So we decided to see if fatty acids in the form of a supplement could be of any use. The Durham LEA is involved in various trials as part of its strategy to decide on the optimal fatty acid supplementation path to eczema follow. Primary School TrialsThe largest and most extensive trial looking at fatty acids and learning conditions. Completed in 2002, this trial involved more than 100 children at 12 primary schools in the county. The trial looked at Dyspraxia eczema and Motor skills, but also assessed eczema for Dyslexia and ADHD. More than 12,000 assessments were undertaken in the course of this full double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled trial. The Durham Pre-School StudyWith increasing numbers of children showing unruly behaviour even before entering primary school, the LEA decided to look at how fatty acids may assist pre-schoolers. We wanted to see how youngsters would tolerate oils, and see if there could be benefits at a crucial time of brain development.
