This restriction would not apply to naturally occurring TFA in animal fats, in oils and all processed foodstuffs containing fats and oils as ingredients and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). Apart from this no legislation exists in vitamin dictionary the EU, or in USA, limiting the level of TFA in food. Following the notification by the Danish authorities for the proposed vitamin dictionary measure some EU Member States made comments on the proposal and it emerged that views differed on this issue. Certain Member States considered that the level of trans fatty acids in foodstuffs should be restricted as much as possible. Other vitamin dictionary Member States did not consider there was evidence that TFA consumed in a varied diet give rise to health problems. Several Member States considered that the issue should be discussed at the European Community level.
